A glimpse into how Born To Win Sahyogis master the art of awakening human potential
By Ramkumar Seshu, Author of Born to Win and Leadership Lessons from the Bhagavad Gita
Yesterday, I was preparing for our upcoming Born to Win Sahyogi review when I received a call that reminded me why I do this work.
Sharada, one of our marketing Sahyogi’s working with a textile company , called with excitement in her voice: “Ram sir, in yesterday’s ‘Winning to Lead’ session, I watched a quiet accounts manager transform before my eyes. For two weeks, he’d sit silently in the session. But yesterday, by the end of our session, he was sharing innovative cost-saving ideas. That moment reminded me why I became a Born to Win Sahyogi.”
This is the magic of the Born to Win process—and why we i
nvest so deeply in training our Sahyogi’s to create these breakthrough moments.
The Sacred Art of “Think I Can”
Most people think facilitation is about delivering content. At Born To Win, we know it’s about creating space for people to discover what was always within them.
Our “Believe I Can” session—the cornerstone of every Born to Win “Winning to Lead” program—isn’t just Module 1. It’s where we plant the seed of transformation that grows throughout someone’s entire journey with us.
But here’s what makes it work: the Sahyogi’s ability to see potential before the participant does.
What It Takes to Create Breakthrough Moments
When I watch our Sahyogis in action, I’m amazed by the subtle skills they’ve mastered:
The Art of Sacred Space: Creating an environment where a senior manager feels safe to admit they struggle with confidence, or where a team leader can share their fear of making decisions.
Powerful Questioning: Moving beyond “What are your strengths?” to questions that unlock genuine self-discovery: “Tell me about a time when you solved a problem everyone thought was impossible.”
Seeing the Invisible: Recognizing the potential in someone who’s been overlooked or has overlooked themselves.
Gentle Persistence: Working with the skeptics—those who walk in convinced that “this positive thinking stuff won’t work for me”—until they discover their own evidence of capability.
The Ripple Effect
Last month, Shyam from our Delhi team shared a story that perfectly illustrates why we do this work. He was facilitating a “Believe I Can” session for a manufacturing company when he noticed one supervisor—let’s call him Raj—who seemed completely disengaged.
Instead of pushing, Shyam gently asked Raj about a small improvement he’d mentioned wanting to make to his production line. As Raj explained his idea, Shyam helped him see the innovation and leadership thinking behind it.
Three months later, Raj’s improvement had reduced production delays in his unit. But more importantly, he’d started mentoring junior staff and contributing actively in management meetings.
One “Believe I Can” moment. Countless ripple effects.
Continuous Learning, Deeper Impact
This Thursday, our Sahyogi family will explore mastering the “Believe I Can” session:
- The psychology behind breakthrough moments
- Advanced techniques for creating a safety net.
- How to overcome resistance and skepticism
- Sharing success stories and learning from each other’s experiences
This isn’t about imposing a rigid method—each of our Sahyogis brings unique wisdom and experience. It’s about enriching what they already do beautifully and learning from each other.
The Heart of What We Do
Sometimes people ask me what I’m most proud of in this Born To Win journey. It’s not the number of programs we’ve delivered or the companies we’ve worked with.
It’s our Sahyogi family—people who understand that when you help someone discover their “I Can” moment, you’re not just running a training session. You’re giving them permission to see themselves differently.
That’s sacred work.
Interested in Creating These Moments?
If you’re reading this and feeling something stir inside you—that recognition that you want to be part of creating breakthrough moments for others—you might be perfect for our Sahyogi community.
We’re not looking for perfect professionals. We’re looking for people who believe in human potential and want to help others discover their own capability.
The world needs more people who can create “Believe I Can” moments.
