Helping People Help Themselves, Joyously

When I walked into the @Tourish DMC office recently, I sensed a quiet joy in the air.

The Genuine Smiles. The Warm Greetings.

I mean real joy—that feeling of: “𝙄’𝙢 𝙝𝙖𝙥𝙥𝙮 𝙩𝙤 𝙗𝙚 𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚. 𝙄 𝙬𝙖𝙣𝙩 𝙩𝙤 𝙜𝙞𝙫𝙚 𝙢𝙮 𝙗𝙚𝙨𝙩.”

In today’s world of pressure cookers and performance dashboards, happiness has quietly left the room. Most leaders don’t even notice it’s missing.

But here’s what I believe:

Joy at work is not a luxury. It’s leadership dharma.

𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗠𝗲

More than 42 years ago, I made a promise.

Not to a client. Not to a company.

To myself.

“𝙄 𝙬𝙞𝙡𝙡 𝙝𝙚𝙡𝙥 𝙥𝙚𝙤𝙥𝙡𝙚 𝙝𝙚𝙡𝙥 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙢𝙨𝙚𝙡𝙫𝙚𝙨… 𝙞𝙣 𝙖 𝙟𝙤𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙨 𝙬𝙖𝙮.”

𝗧𝗵𝗮𝘁’𝘀 𝗯𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗺𝘆 𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗲.

And through years of working with leaders across India, one thing has become crystal clear:

The emotional state of a leader becomes the emotional climate of the team.

• If you show up happy, your team blossoms.

• If you show up calm, your team breathes easier.

• If you show up joyful, your team creates magic.

𝗔 𝗦𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗦𝗵𝗶𝗳𝘁. 𝗔 𝗣𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲.

Let me share the story.

I met @Vikash and @Debjyoti at the @Tourish DMC office for the first time 18 months ago, Our client in Noida. Great guys. Brilliant minds and believed in their Team. Their first words to me were:

“Ram Sir, We want our people to be happy, how do we do that?

We didn’t give them a playbook. We reconnected them to the dharma for starting their company—the deeper purpose through our Born to Win process.

Every morning, they asked their team:

“𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘄𝗲 𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗽𝘆 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗼𝗱𝗮𝘆?”

That’s it.

In six weeks, something shifted.

• The smiles Increased

• The stress came down

• The “I Can, You Can, We Can” went up

That’s the power of joy entering the workplace.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗚𝗶𝘁𝗮, 𝗞𝗮𝗿𝗺𝗮 𝗬𝗼𝗴𝗮 & 𝗝𝗼𝘆𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝗵𝗮𝗴𝗮𝘃𝗮𝗱 𝗚𝗶𝘁𝗮 𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗱𝘀 𝘂𝘀:

“𝙆𝙖𝙧𝙢𝙖𝙣𝙮𝙚 𝙫𝙖𝙙𝙝𝙞𝙠𝙖𝙧𝙖𝙨𝙩𝙚, 𝙢𝙖 𝙥𝙝𝙖𝙡𝙚𝙨𝙝𝙤𝙪 𝙠𝙖𝙙𝙖𝙘𝙝𝙖𝙣𝙖.”

Do your action- focus on the outcome with joy in what you are doing. Results are bound to follow.

This is the essence of leadership.

Not to control every task, but to create a culture where people choose joy, even amidst intense challenges.

At Born to Win, our mantra inspired by the teachings of the Bhagavad Gita is simple:

“𝙄 𝘾𝙖𝙣. 𝙔𝙤𝙪 𝘾𝙖𝙣. 𝙒𝙚 𝘾𝙖𝙣.”

When one person begins to believe, the whole culture shifts.

When a leader leads with joy, teams transform—quietly, powerfully, permanently.

Let’s begin with a smile, A “thank you”, Listening without interrupting.

Whatever it is—do it.

Because joy doesn’t need a strategy deck.

It just needs you to start.

I do believe that 𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗵𝗶𝗴𝗵 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝗻—𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗺𝘂𝘀𝘁—𝗰𝗼𝗲𝘅𝗶𝘀𝘁.
